Dr Stephanie Rains, NUI Maynooth delivered the fourth in the 2009/10 Sunderland
Leverhulme Lecture Series on Wednesday 29th April 2009.
Her topic was: 'The development of
Modern Consumer Culture in Dublin: Department Stores and the Irish industrial Exhibition of
1853'.

St Patrick's Day Celebrations
On March 17th NEICN provided a day of events beginning in Sunderland Central Library. There was storytelling, Irish dancing from Inchigeelagh, a display of posters from the Leverhulme project and a poetry reading by Professor Willy Maley.
In the evening, Prof Maley gave the third Leverhulme public lecture and Aos Dana provided musical entertainment in Varsity. Click here for the gallery. |
